We
are soon introducing these amazing solid teak windows made in Sweden
of recycled wood from decommissioned sailing ships from Portugal.
These old ships that sailed the world, now they have become windows.
These Solid Teak windows are made according to the specification
of the 1880’s. A test was recently conducted in Scandinavia
comparing modern days double and triple pain glass windows. Surprisingly,
the old windows had the same R rating as any modern design.
Why do they work so well? Basically the concept with insulation
in a windows is in the volume of air that is trapped between the
inside the glass and the outside of the glass. Our old solid teak
windows have approximately 4” by the surface area of the glass
of standing air. This is enough to create an excellent heat and
cold transfer barrier.
Maintenance suggestions: These windows will last
for hundreds of years. Maintenance is done by applying the organic
purified linseed oil wax or the
purified organic boiled linseed
oil or linseed oil paint (the
only paint that adheres to Teak).
Find these windows on e-bay (search on e-bay for “solvent
free paint”) or call for more information.
